Provisions as to alterations made in Will

SECTION 16 of the Wills Act addresses alterations of Wills.

Note that Wills operate from the death of the Testator.
After the will has been executed, there should be absolutely ‘no crossing out’, or any other alterations.
A Will affects even property acquired by the Testator after execution of the Will.
A ‘catch all’ clause or a residual clause is suggested to be used as the last paragraph to cover who should benefit from property acquired by the Testator after execution of the Will.

NOTE: If any corrections, or alterations be made in a Will, the testator and all the witnesses must write their names in the margin opposite or near such alteration, obliteration, or interlineations.
